A few years ago I moved to New Zealand and wondered when I got here what the hunting and fishing were going to be like.
My job took me to Wanaka where I met a guy who spent some time in the States and offered to take out on a pig hunt.
His family owned a farm in the Maniototo, his brother had a guide service business.
It was an awesome stroke of luck, and one I couldn't pass up.
Greg is quite a fisherman and outdoorsman and I figured it would be well worth the effort.
Once at he farm I met Steve and the family, and everyone was great.
The Next day we went out on a hunt and I was suitably impressed.Steve turned out to be a great guide and showed
me as much game as I could have ever hoped to see. Not only did I hunt pigs but goats, turkeys,and rabbits
,with a possum thrown in for good measure. I couldn't have hoped for a better time or better company.

When I saw Greg Morton's article "Where Big Boars Roam" about his hunt with Doctari Safaris it brought back some great memories.
So I thought I'd write and say thanks to Mr. Morton for a great article, and to Steve and Greg Dougherty for a great hunt and a great time. Cheers guys.

I have hunted with Steve Dougherty of Doctari Safaris on two occasions taking pigs and goats.
Steve had a great knowledge of the area being hunted and was able to locate animals
despite the fact that on both occasions I was hunting during the middle of the day
and the time and weather conditions were against the chances of success.
I have used the services of guides in New Zealand,
Australia and Hawaii and rate the service provided by Steve highly.
I am happy to recommend him to fellow hunters.
